Silver is ideal for large deployments where most of the transmitters need to be monitored, and the coverage between transmitters need to be controlled to ensure quality of service of a given area. TV channels and advertisers are sensitive to that quality as they finance DVB-T and DVB-H broadcasting. In DVB-H networks the tendency is to also finance part of the infrastructure through a monthly subscriber fee. Silver is mandatory in both technologies to meet consumer expectations for high quality broadcast services.
Silver can be fully controlled via SNMP. Alarms can be configured in order to raise SNMP traps or send emails. UDcast recommends utilisation of its SNMP application to control and monitor Silver equipment - the Broadcast Manager - but any standard SNMP management system may also be used.
Silver is a complement to the GOLDENEAGLE and Navigator monitoring stations from UDcast for large network deployments. Navigator is a mobile monitoring device which compares real coverage with a theoretical model, enabling mobile monitoring campaigns. GOLDENEAGLE units enable fixed monitoring and analysis within the main transmitter zones while the secondary transmitters and subsidiary coverage zones are monitored by Silver.
